Cross-country skiing represents a dynamic challenge for endurance and wellness athletes. Thanks to it’s high altitude, Galtür is the perfect holiday destination for cross-country skiers. Well prepared cross-country ski trails in all levels of difficulty amidst a pristine nature from 1377 m to 2000 m above sea level are waiting for both amateur sportsmen and top athletes.

Thanks to the high snow guarantee the cross-country ski trails provide perfect training conditions for everybody from the beginning of December until well into spring. Approx. 74 km of well-prepared cross-country ski trails offer perfect conditions. The use of the trails is free of charge.

Between 1.377 m and 2.000 m above sea level well prepared cross-country ski trails in all levels of difficulty amidst a pristine nature scenery are waiting for you. 74 km of prepared trails provide beginners with the best conditions to get to know the popular endurance sport as well as intermediates with challenging tours in the middle of a dreamlike backdrop. In addition, you can also explore the approx. 3 km long and illuminated night trail from Galtür to Wirl until 22.00 o’clock.

Diagonal stride, skating, kick double pole …- knowing the right cross-country ski technique is also very important. The Ski School Galtür also offers cross-country ski courses and tours with nationally certified cross-country skiing instructors so that you use the right technique to explore the trails and ski hiking paths of the Silvretta.

The most beautiful cross-country trails

  • Overall length: 8,7 km | Difference in altitude: 120 m | average gradient: 1,5 % | maximum gradient: 9 %
  • Starting point: sports centre (indoor swimming pool) in Galtür, attached to the Trisanna trail.
  • Overall length: 5,2 km | Difference in altitude: 110 m | average gradient: 2,11 % | maximum gradient: 6,0 %
  • The trail goes along the river Trisanna to Ischgl and ends at the Silvretta funicular at the big parking place.
  • Overall length: 6,6 km | Difference in altitude: 104 m | average gradient: 4,25 % | maximum gradient: 10 %
  • The Western trail starts at the ice rink in Galtür on 1.580 m above sea level and ends at the same place again after a round trip.
  • Overall length: 5,0 km | Difference in altitude: 366 m | average gradient: 4,3 % | maximum gradient: 9 %
  • The ski hiking trail Bieler Höhe starts at the tollbooth on 1.670 m above sea level and ends at the Silvretta reservoir on 2.036 m above sea level. Connection to the Lake trail: approx. 4,5 km as well as connection to the Training trail: 3,5 km.
  • Overall length: 4,5 km | Difference in altitude: 219 m | average gradient: 4,9 % | maximum gradient: 14 %
  • The ski hiking trail Zeinis starts at the district Wirl and ends at the Kops reservoir on 1.830 m above sea level.
  • Overall length: 5,0 km | Difference in altitude: 213 m | average gradient: 4,3 % | maximum gradient: 9 %
  • The ski hiking trail into the valley Jamtal starts in Galtür at the church and ends on 1.845 m above sea level, past the mountain huts Schnapfenalm and Scheibenalm.
